The most popular android phones

It is held that Android OS becomes No.1 in the smart phone’s world. A lot of buzz are created recently on the “Android vs iPhone OS” debate. At this occasion, XMSCAN’s marketing team makes a mini-study on “the most popular android phones”, based on XMSCAN’s app statistics.

We revise 2 periods for the same applications. Here below is an example with the app ScanCard – business card reader.

1. From July 2010 to February 2011:

2. From March 2011 to May 2011:

By comparing the 2 periods, we can see that HTC Desire HD  and Samsung Galaxy Tab climb on the top of ranking, mean while SamSung Galaxy S and HTC Evo 4G  recede to the 3rd and 4th place discreetly. We also notice that the same evolution occurs nearly on all our applications. It is not surprising to see this phemonena if you discover that HTC desire HD and Samsung Galaxy Tab have only been released at a recent date, let’s say by the end of 2010.

One point to raise from this statistics, is that we have surprisingly found an “unexpected visitor” in the table. Voila, Samsung Galaxy Tab! Actually ScanCard is a business application, and indeed the business people get more chances to use a tablet compared to a teenager.

Last but not least, our study is based on a statistics of worldwide users, but not only of US. Given that ScanCard recognizes Chinese, besides English and some other European languages, it has more facility to conquer Asia users, like in China mainland, Taiwan, Hongkong, Malaysia, etc. Thus as Asian manufacturers, Samsung (South Korean) and HTC (Taiwanese) certainly takes advantage of the geogrphic impact in the ranking.
